2040: The NEW FUTURE!

Background Info:
In current year 2040, there are a lot more exciting things than year 2010 (as I have read in my history textbook). Women president-there have been five already, except that this year the woman president happens to be particularly strange. She is an alien! Aliens have been fighting for equal rights for the past twenty five years now, and society gave in. We cannot help but smile at those cute googly bulging eyes of those green creatures. As for typical vacations for affluent families, they happen to travel to which ever planet they want every so often. Planet Neptune is like the new Italy or Cabo; there are so many resorts to choose from. I have yet to visit Mars, because it is one of the more high-end planets and it is exclusive. Computers are non-existent. If you have to write something down there are holograms for that (it can easily read and translate your thoughts) and that is what most people use today. Teleporting is the main method of transportation, therefore pollution is out of the question for that department. We receive energy for electronic purposes through solar-powered systems; although we barely have any electronics, everything is through holograph. There are no more fast food restaurants they are considered dangerous. All species are living in peace and harmony, everyone and everything has finally adapted to one another. Everything is very positive, including the energy (pun intended).
Average Day:
There is no such thing as waking up or going to sleep, humans had a chip implanted onto their brain stem that has been programmed to operate forever. Time is just consisted of numbers; year 2040 does not run by time. When you have to be somewhere at some "time" you just imagine yourself there and use teleport. School can go as fast as you want or as slow as you want, if you miss a class you get an amount of 3 chances to go back in time and be "present." Food is healthier and tastier than ever! Technology is all about holograms. Oh and you can make a mini hologram of yourself and they attend class for you and do all your work, except that they charge a ridiculous amount of money. Once you are in class (if you decide to go) you lay inside this "sleeping chamber" much like a tanning bed, and close your eyes, much like imagining yourself asleep, and listen to what your professor lectures through these tiny speakers (hypnosis occurs to make you unconscious and that is how you learn). Examinations consist of reciting everything you have ever heard your professor say, but there are easy ways to pass these exams. Clothes are all neon/fluorescent colored. School lasts up to 5 days, however, it feels like only 2 hours. After school you go back to your normal routine and do not have to go back to school until 3 days later. In the sleeping chamber you learn a lecture each day from each class. Right after school you can teleport yourself to work. I work in Australia.

"The Internet: A Clear and Present Danger?"

Cleaver shed some light about how utilizing the Internet itself is not violating civil liberties, however, mentioned how some illegal conduct can be done while using the Internet. Cleaver believes that the Internet, although is meant for mostly good and the prospect future of civilization, is also a present danger that has a snowball affect if the situation is not administered appropriately and regulated. Cleaver supports this essay by including how the Internet poses the biggest threat yet, to adolescents because of pornographic sites that are very accessible. Cleaver believes that Internet is a valuable resource only when it is "placed at the service of humanity and when it promotes our integral development for the benefit of all," I definitely agree with Cleaver on this. I also agree with the list that violates our civil liberties in the opening of her essay; it truly is a violation because the Internet is seen as a trusted network where all kinds of transactions are made. Cleaver's list in the beginning is an effective way of introducing the topic of her essay and grasping the reader's attention because it demonstrates weather the Internet really is regulated and a 'safe place' for people to conduct their businesses and/or whereabouts, and what age group really has access to the Internet.
